Context

Welcome to Day 081!

Last night was a bit unsettling, mainly because my husband awoke in pain.  He’d experienced this kind of pain only once before and, at that time, we believed to be a kidney stone leaving his system.  Most of the symptoms were there (Luo 2019).

While it’s refreshing to learn that my husband truly is human and does get sick, it makes me uneasy when he’s in pain and suffering.  My husband is tough and rarely gets sick.  In the entire time, I’ve known him, some 15-16, years he’s probably only had a handful of sick days and three of those were precautionary colonoscopy tests, because his father had had bowel cancer.  Surgery removed the cancer, so he’s much better.

While I’m comfortable applying metaphysical concepts to me and my ailments it becomes a little more challenging when applying them to those I love.  Anyway, Louise L Hay suggests that kidney stones are “lumps of undissolved anger” (p.202).  This definition caused me to question my impact on my husband.  When it comes to expressing anger, he rarely does it.  Most times, I have suspected his casual “go with the flow” attitude allows him to move on easily.

One of the things that I need to constantly remind myself on is to watch how my comments on things are taken seriously by others.  Sometimes there’s a tendency to over-dramatise, or “lay it on a bit thick”.   Between my sister, mother and I this isn’t an issue – passionate souls the lot of us.  Venting at full volume only to kiss and make up a couple of hours later is pretty much standard family stuff from where we sit (most of the time).

Others’ views on what we (my family) would call our level three style conversation – one being normal discussions, two being tactical words. A three out of five as being a “tense” situation and others have thought that things were really bad. The truth is that we’re far from it.  Life’s not really fun, if you aren’t able to have a fight every now and again with people who love you.

In one of the many books I’ve read, the opposite of love isn’t hating, it’s indifference.  Hate is simply showing you that they love you so much and you’ve disappointed them.  Indifference is like Rhett Butler to Scarlett O’Hara, at the end of the 1939 movie, Gone with the Wind when he says, “[f]rankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn,”.  Rhett’s indifference shows he has no real feelings for her anymore.  Not hate or love.

Also, in Chinese Astrology world somewhere when reading about the dynamic between my sign and my husband’s.  Those born in the year of the Dragon need to be a little careful of their outbursts, for other signs aren’t as thick-skinned.  A polite way of saying, I could be over the top sometimes, and to tone it down.

On a couple of occasions, I’ve noticed my husband’s reaction to something I thought was just a matter of play.  This was just play feelings and all.  Although, not expressed the response followed with an ache here or there.  These signs helped me work with the “over the top-ness” and I work on toning it down. Perhaps I’d become complacent.

Annette Noontil on the other hand relays that kidney stones mean, ” [n]ot having a good relationship with self or others and not doing anything about the situation. This then gets solidified inside you” (Noontil, p. 67).  It’s similar to Hay’s although the words are slightly different.

Let’s see what the cards had to say!

Shuffle Method used was Standard Shuffle.

The Cards - Analysis

Carry over cards from yesterday; No-thingness from position Future Energy to Now (makes sense), Letting Go from Recent Past to Recent Past (unchanged), Friendliness from Feelings/ Immediate Future to Outcome (makes sense).  Worth noting that Friendliness has been with us for the last four days, while I wrote it off yesterday, it appears it wants to be taken more seriously.

The movement of a Future Energy into the Now position like that of No-thingness is a lovely progression to show how the cards are supposed to work 😉.  Suggesting that the potential is available at the moment.

Letting Go staying in the same position supports the No-thingness card’s transition suggesting that the potential being brought to life in No-thingness might be dependent upon Letting Go

With respect to Friendliness, from my numerology days, there’s a thing that certain numbers are karmic numbers.  The numbers 19 and 22 are karmic numbers – 19 being 19 March and 22 being 22 March.  What does this mean?  It means they are like the major arcana cards in a tarot deck.  Significant growing landing points.  Numbers not labelled as a karmic number are the roads to get you to and between those marked as karmic numbers.  It’s too long to go into here, it’ll require its own post.  This is what I’ve noticed from my personal observations, that if a significant event begins on a 19 it will usually wrap up by number 22.  COVID-19 is interesting since the 19 is it starting in 2019, concern around it will start changing in 2022 – that’s my guess.  So, much fun stuff to explore with this concept, it will require its own post.

All of that just to say Friendliness will probably not be around tomorrow.

The four-day journey of Friendliness seems worth calling out, especially since it’ back again.  No longer can it be glossed over!  Friendliness began in the Now, moved to Distant Past, then reemerged in the Feelings/ Immediate Future position and finally in the Outcome position.   If we were to read the positions rather than the card itself specifically, I’d say that the Friendliness has cycled through from Now to potentially again become Now again.  After all the Now position is an outcome from something previous (although not identified here) and the Outcome is where it was going.  Friendliness has begotten itself.   Friendliness breeds Friendliness no matter who the interaction is with.

Shows image of tabled lists from Day 78 to Day 80

The Rebirth as Influence on No-thingness suggests an issue thought of as passed is available for resurrection. The Goal of Ripeness suggests that this is the certainly the right time to work on potential.  If we’re talking about my husband’s kidney stone, since he has had it before and it has recurred, it might be worth exploring causes.

In the Distant Past the kidney stones have caused Stress. On the upside my husband has let go of the situation because it is no longer in his system or kidneys but out of it.  It’s a Letting Go, suggesting then a Letting Go of an old situation that no longer served my husband (Recent Past).

Future Energy shows the card of Compromise.  It’s the “draw”, where there are no winners.

For me, I need to let go of my own Guilt. I mentioned feeling guilty or sad about my husband’s situation, believing I am in part responsible.

Others’ Views see me as being Intensity – aka “over the top”.  Let’s just say the cards have definitely reflected my thoughts above.

Hopes & Fears is Laziness.  The fear is definitely that I had become complacent with respect to how I jest on matters that could be taken seriously.  The problem is that I have difficulty spotting the situation because for me it isn’t an issue.  My hope is that, if Laziness has been the cause, it is identified dealt with.

Here we have the Outcome of Friendliness, suggesting a way to handle situations moving forwards.  Less over-the-top, more casual.

Context

Welcome to Day 80!

On Day 078, I began playing positing the idea of the invisible aligners aligning more than my teeth.  The idea went on to potentially trigger a domino effect not least of all being the broken ankle.  Well, the repercussions continue.  Another ailment added to the list is that of my lower back (sciatica).  The physiotherapist did warn this might be a side-effect of the moon boot.  Yesterday, there was a lot of moon boot activity.

One of the other ideas, metaphysically speaking is that the lower back means there is financial stress.  This doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t have any money; it simply means you are stressed about where to spend your money.  Torn between multiple places of equal value to you.  The tension seems to hang around in the lower back area.  Ironically, this is the time you need to see a massage or physio therapist or chiropractor and these folk cost – you guessed it – money.

Out of curiosity checked Louise L Hay’s list, “Sciatica: Being hypocritical. Fear of money and of the future” (p.212) and Annette Noontil, “You are disregarding your own wants. Therefore, not communicating to yourself and others what you want for yourself” (p.68).  In this case, Annette is possibly righter although I am unsure on what I want for myself, which could be the problem in itself.

On the financial front, there was tension because there was some shelving I’d like to put up before the next group of visitors arrive. Although not through my funds completely from last pay, I’d liked having the money there.  The other place for the money was into savings.  Savings would build toward possible renovations or a vacation.  The third stress was the need to go to said assistance with my back.  As a cheap compromise and something that would help with the ankle’s flexibility.  Even though it was raining, we went to the local swimming pool.

The swimming pool, not far from us, has an indoor physio pool. The physio pool is a 25-metre pool at the same depth of 1.1m.  That is, there is no deep or shallow end, which is perfect to wade in up and down the pool.   In the process of heading up to the pool, I was acutely aware it was raining.  This meant wet concrete.  This will be the first time encountering wet concrete in bare feet since I broke my ankle.  It’s a bit of a psyche.

In my head, the battle of thoughts was taking place.  Something like, “you’ve walked on wet concrete hundreds of times before and not broken an ankle; just be cautious where you step”.  The countering thoughts went along the lines of, “but your ankle is still healing. Can your ankle take this?”.  The response to that counter was the ankle would get better quicker by following through and doing the exercises.

In the end It was worthwhile going to the pool.  It took the weight off my leg and away from my back enabling me to stretch the tightened lower back area.  Not enough to remove the pain, but enough to provide more movement.

It was lunchtime, and we had grocery shopping to do.  Off to the shopping centre (mall) we went.  This centre has a few massage places and while my husband went to the supermarket I bit the bullet and went and had a massage.  Personally, I’m not fond of remedial massage being done on me 😉.  Remedial or deep tissue massage is something I prefer other people to experience.  My preference is for the still therapeutic and much gentler hot stone massage.  The heat from the stones tends to relax my muscles more allowing the massager to get deeper into the tissue without the side-effect of the pain.  It works for me.  Opting for a hot rock massage, usually negates the need for finger, elbow or arm driven deep tissue massage.

The problem when you go to someone who is skilled in remedial massage, and although not requested, is if the massager will act on instinct.  If the massager senses the chunks of non-pliant knotted muscle beneath the skin, they will want to clear the area of the “offending” mass.  This I know, in the past I was trained as a Swedish Masseuse  and know the instinct well.

There are times when remedial massage works and sciatica is usually one of them.  Nonetheless, given the moon boot is still going to be in my life for at least another week.  In fact, I would be walking out of the clinic in it.  It seemed a waste of pain to go through a remedial massage.  Simply standard loving care massage was all I requested, with hot rocks and aromatherapy.

The masseuse’s instincts kicked in, fortunately not delving to pain levels most of the time.  Some massagers have felt like they were trying massage my bones.  No thanks.  My body is in enough pain, I do not need more.

A good massage is when the hands of the masseuse finds those points and firmly but gently works the area.  You should feel like that the massage is discovering pain you didn’t know you had almost inspiring weeping in relief that it has finally been discovered and gentle loving care applied to soothe it.  Not giving you pain by which you weep at the relief when it stops.  Obviously, this is a personal preference.

Let’s see what the cards have to say!

Shuffle Method used was Washing Machine.

The Cards - Analysis

Carry over cards from yesterday were: Friendliness that was in the Distant Past position and today is in the Feelings/ Immediate Future position and Exhaustion which has moved from the Outcome position to the Hopes & Fears position.

Feelings of Friendliness are a relatively common occurrence, particularly in everyday situations.  Sometimes that Friendliness can lead to something in the future because it is a mutually beneficial relationship.  The same cannot be said for Exhaustion.  As an Outcome card, it was fulfilled and remedied.  However, the Fear with this card is continual Exhaustion will not provide me any long term benefits when it comes to my physical health.  My hope is that I can adapt to the new way of life and Exhaustion is no longer an issue.

Totality influences Aloneness in the Now with a Goal of SorrowTotality is full commitment knowing there is a chance of relief on the receiving side.  Aloneness is realising that healing cannot be done by anyone but yourself.  Because the cards adapt to the reader’s interpretation of them.  Most of the time this card is about, “enlightenment and growth through tears of compassion”.  Sorrow, in the Goal position, makes sense, waking up with pain and embarking on the healing process for the day – pool, back roller and massage.

The Totality of trusting in the process and understanding that healing is done alone, comes from the Distant Past reflecting a Maturity or wealth of knowledge in the area.  The Distant Past rolls into the Recent Past with Letting GoLetting Go is when clinging onto old notions and constraints are overcome.  Today’s Letting Go could relate to the letting go of the money dichotomy, spend the money on getting professional held for back health or buy shelving for visitors.

I know this seems like a no-brainer, however, it’s amazing how many times I’ve struggled with health versus something else.  Today, it was a simpler choice.  It fell into health vs want.  There have been times when the choice hasn’t been as easy, like pay car registration or pay electricity.  The latter boils down to getting to work or having light, a tougher decision. It’s almost like “want versus need” but the difference is sometimes difficult to identify.

From Letting Go in the Recent Past, the Future Energy is No-thingness.  No-thingness is about unrealised, unidentified and untapped potential in whichever direction is wanted.

The Feelings of Friendliness.  This I’d apply to the masseuse, she was lovely and the massage beneficial, in lieu of visiting my favourite masseuse (further away), I’ll go back to her.

Others’ Views is of Postponement.  Osho’s interpretation is that Postponement is stupid.  In this case, I’m reasonably certain that my husband may have thought that when it came to going to the pool and to having my back massage.  As mentioned, it seemed from the outside like a no-brainer.

Exhaustion in the Hopes and Fears was tackled.  Basically, the fear is that it’s not good for my health and the hope is my body will adapt to the new routine and exhaustion abated.

Sharing is the OutcomeSharing is the card of bountifulness and generosity, possibly stemming from the relief of no longer being in pain.

Context

Welcome to Day 79!

Cat vet day.  Every year we take our purr-babies to the vet for their annual shot and check-up.  Today was that day.  In the beginning, we (or I) wanted to have cats that were as portable as little dogs.  Let’s face it our cats are both bigger than some terriers!  When they were kittens, we took them for drives.  It wasn’t long before we discovered that Valentine got car sick.

For the first couple of trips the seemed fine.  At first, it was a trip to the park and a couple of trips to the Gold Coast, Australia (about an hour’s drive).  On one of the trips to the Gold Coast, the two kittens, in the same cat carrier the full ginger one, Dobby, decided to let go of his bowls all over his brother.  To make the trip worse for Valentine, we pulled over rinsed him off with a bottle of water.  Dried him with a towel which luckily hadn’t gotten soiled, to leave him in the carrier by himself while we nursed Dobby.

The poor things.  Dobby was okay for a while, but Valentine had adopted constant meowing as soon as he got in the pet carrier.  Dobby on the other hand still hung around in the carrier, even as an adult cat.   A couple of flights from Brisbane to Sydney and back for the two kittens was all they could manage before we came to terms with the fact, they weren’t going to be travel cats.

Personally, I think Dobby would be okay traveling but once he discovered that Valentine got attention, in terms of pats and constant cooing, he was not going to miss out on the attention either.

Apart from the cat duet in the car all the way to the vet (about 10-15 minutes), the visit went well.  Both boys were well behaved at the vets and within two minutes of being let out of the carrier, walked around like they owned the place.  Dobby was at home on the scales which looked very nearly like the bathroom sink they were used to lying in as kittens.

You see, the bathroom was the perfect place to leave the kittens when we went to work.  It had room for a litter box, a couple of comfy beds, water, food and room to move and, as it appeared, a comfy sink as well.   Also, if they didn’t know how to use the litter box it wouldn’t be difficult to clean up.  Like most cats, using the litter box seemed to come naturally, after being shown where it was.

At the vet’s, the boys took their shots and tapeworm tablet without fuss.  They hadn’t gained any weight since last year.  After being told to up the dietary dental content they were good to go.  Once in the carriers, the serenading cats began again 😿.  Phew!  That’s over for another year.

Day 079. Tabled list: position number, description, and daily card. 1 is Now, card is Breakthrough. 2 is Influence, card is Going with the Flow. 3 is Goal, card is Clinging to the Past. 4 is Distant Past, card is Friendliness. 5 is Recent Past, card is Trust. 6 is Future Energy, card is Ripeness. 7 is Feelings, card is Silence. 8 is Others’ views, card is Change. 9 is Hopes & Fears, card is Playfulness. 10 is Outcome, card is Exhaustion. Shuffle Method used was Washing Machine

The Cards - Analysis

A Breakthrough in the Now is Influenced by Going with the Flow.  The Goal began as one Clinging to the Past, but the Breakthrough is either utilising what was thought of as clinging to the past but turns out the past was useful, or it was breaking something that had been clung to.   This could be the subtle worry I had about Valentine and a dark spot which had suddenly appeared on his ear.  Was I clinging to his not earmarked state?  Was this serious?  Google search indicated it might be a freckle or cancer.

In the Distant Past, our relationship with the vet has been one of Friendliness.  We enjoy each other’s company, respect each other and but know we are not necessarily going to be besties.

Our faith in the vet’s expertise has always been one of Trust and this is true of the Recent Past (our visit earlier today).  Vet indicated that Valentine’s ear isn’t anything to worry about, but we should keep a watch on it in case the skin texture changes (becomes rough or flaky).

The Recent Past, led to the Breakthrough which indicated a Future Energy of Ripeness, that is being a timely visit.  Both cats were due for their shots and a quick once over to verify they were still in good shape.

My Feelings in regard to the Breakthrough is that of Silence.  We will accept the vet’s council to watch Valentine’s ear and recommendation to include more dental care in both cats’ diets.  Being at peace with both council and recommendation.

Others’ Views is that of Change.  Perhaps, there’s the perception that we need to Change the diet of our cats, which it appears we hadn’t gotten the diet right.  The vet was more relaxed today, not as busy as usual, and our dynamic with her had changed too.

Hopes and Fears has the card of PlayfulnessPlayfulness is exactly what our cats bring out in us and in others.  My hope is for this to continue and my fear is that we (husband and I – more me) have become complacent with our play sessions with the cats.

At the end of the day the Outcome card is that of Exhaustion.  It’s true.  It’s late once again.  Although sort of cute in their travel sickness, it does also bear a slight impact on your energy levels because you aren’t able to do much about the time the cats stress getting to and from the vets.

Day 078 – Invisible Aligners

19 March 2021

Day 078. Celtic Cross Layout of daily cards.1 is Now, card is Friendliness. 2 is Influence, card is Projections. 3 is Goal, card is Ripeness. 4 is Distant Past, card is Harmony. 5 is Recent Past, card is Participation. 6 is Future Energy, card is Understanding. 7 is Feelings, card is No-thingness. 8 is Others’ views, card is Innocence. 9 is Hopes & Fears, card is The Source. 10 is Outcome, card is Existence.

Context

Welcome to Day 078!

After having the break yesterday, it seems that my productivity went up.  Perhaps not on the webpage 🥴.  There must have been something refreshing about sitting with a wheat pack on my neck all day.  When tackling personal growth, if your body and mind is a reflection of your spirit (soul) than when you embark on personal growth, you’re most likely going to encounter some physical side-effects.

The idea I’m toying with at the moment, like a cat playing with a toy, is whether back in October 2020 when I decided to straighten the bottom row of my teeth, the ankle break was in some way related to the decision.   On a metaphysical level, this is not beyond the realms of possibility.  That is, if everything is connected.  Annette Noontil in The Body is the Barometer of the Soul, and Louise L Hay in You Can Heal Your Life both link physical parts and ailments to states of mind.

Did you know that your teeth can move forward as you get older, depending upon the shape of your jaw and how your teeth connect?  Apparently, they can.  This is what was happening to me.  There’s the bottom right canine that was starting to move forward and outward.  This tooth is important to my mouth’s tooth/ teeth structure.  Having seen this tooth go missing in both my parents and seen the repercussions, I wanted to prevent the repercussions and now felt like a good time.

In Noontil’s book the right side is the physical, and the lower canine tooth (p. 45) is planning and organising.  According to Hay, the break in the ankle is about “inflexibility and guilt” and “represent the ability to receive pleasure” (p.178).  Makes sense, when you think of planning and organising for my future physical direction (work or retirement).  Also, coupled with the pleasure of a lovely weekend coming to an end, when we still had another night up our sleeve.   Well, the broken ankle certainly ended my ability to receive pleasure for many weeks to come 🤕!

If you take the concept of making big changes, there’s the potential for a domino effect on the rest of the body.  To use an analogy, it’s the case of cleaning up the cupboard in the spare room.  In order to clean out the cupboard, the spare room needs cleaning first, for the spare room to become decluttered, the garage needs space, for the garage to be cleaned, it requires throwing things out – some of which don’t have definitive keep or throw out decisions yet.  Of course, the spare room could be clean and then becomes messy as the cupboard gets emptied out before everything goes back in in an organised manner.

In project management circles, an-activity-dependent-upon-activity chain is known as the critical path.  Not every action is part of the critical path.  There are things in the cupboard that can be removed without cleaning or messing up the spare room. Depending upon what the cupboard looks like everything may need to come out, just to be reassessed.

The process for straightening my teeth back to their original state, by comparison to the time it took for them to become crooked, was/ is relatively fast (five to six months versus years).  Like those small additions thrown into the cupboard over time, when it comes to cleaning, you’re likely to do it faster than the months/ years it took to fill the cupboard. It’s pulling a piece of thread from the hem of a piece of clothing and suddenly realising there’s no more thread and no more hem. It’s at this point where I may have broken my ankle.

The shifts in my consciousness or awareness dawning, triggered by everyone around me speaking of retirement plans and realising they’re my age!  Yaddah, yaddah, yaddah… that story’s in early Days 19 to 30 (ish). Obviously, the majority of people aligning their teeth will not break an ankle or even a fingernail.  Having a smooth and happy transition. This situation, like everyone’s is unique to me/ them.

It looks like the invisible aligners were doing more aligning that just the teeth.  Much of my right side has been undergoing some form of shift.  My right index finger, right knee, right hip, lower back, right shoulder, to headache and potentially a slight cough to top it off – not COVID.   Is it any wonder, the headache was present?  According to Hay, headaches are invalidating the self and/ or self-criticism and fear (p.196).  Again, makes sense, change can do that.

Let’s see what the cards have to say!

Today's Cards

Day 078. Tabled list: position number, description, and daily card.1 is Now, card is Friendliness. Shuffle Method used was Standard Shuffle.

The Cards - Analysis

There was only one card that carried over and it moved from Others’ Views to being an Outcome and that was the card of Existence.

The Now of Friendliness is Influenced by Projections, each believing the other of like mindedness. A Goal of Ripeness suggests that connecting with the self is the appropriate and prime time to carry out the action.

Harmony in the Distant Past is the foundations for Friendliness and supports the Goal of Ripeness.  This I believe relates to the way the team at work participates with each other to deliver outcomes on a daily basis. What a beautiful segue to the Recent Past position of Participation.

The Recent Past of Participation and collaboration leads to a Future Energy of Understanding and reading the supportive emails from some of the team members wishing me well.  It appears they understand headaches.

My Feelings is that of No-thingness, meaning there’s potential for continuing Friendliness💗.

Others’ Views are that of InnocenceInnocence in this case, I’m reading as an “echo” card of the Future Energy of Understanding.  Both have understanding and acceptance as part of the cards’ makeup.

Hopes & Fears is all about getting back to The SourceThe Source is about the inner core values, drivers and emotions.  My hope is to get back to my source.  The fear is that I am in too confused a state to recognise it, even if I came across it.

Finally, the Outcome of the day-off is Existence.  Appreciating my uniqueness and the the place in all of time and all of history, that no-one is more qualified to be me than me.

Today is going to have a very short context with a brief analysis.  One of the disadvantages of posting daily is that life can interfere with routine.  Yesterday and last night were spent sitting at the computer and the awkward ankle healing angle.  I awoke to a headache which saw me out of action for most of the day.

Concentrating on writing the blog tonight is quite difficult, I seem to need a microsleep between sentences.

My thoughts for today included missing exercise and yoga particularly when I have a long day at the screen.

Anyway, let’s see what the cards have to say!

The Cards - Analysis

There were three cards that made a transition from yesterday to today. They were: The Fool, Aloneness and ExistenceThe Fool moved from the Now position to the Goal position. Aloneness sat in the Influence position yesterday and today sits in the Future Energy spot.  Existence went from the Feelings/ Immediate Future position to Others’ Views.

So, is there any meaning to the transitions or are they simply the same cards not relevant to the position before?  Since the cards (me) knows that the cards are being done daily there might very well be a link.

Aloneness makes sense, it was the Influence, and the Influence became the Future Energy.  Wanting space, I created an opportunity to get space – the headache.

Yesterday’s The Fool in the Now became the Goal without the influence of Aloneness.  It sits separately as an idea.  It may simply have been a way to highlight the foolishness of not taking regular stand breaks, which in turn gave me the space I needed.

The Now of Completion reflects a positive vibration of finally putting the last piece into the puzzle that has been outstanding for some time.  This is true, yesterday I may have finally handed over a project without knowledge gaps.

There is, of course, one catch Influencing the transition and it requires Compromise. It’s the gap of ownership of the global component.  With reshuffling in the organisation, the skills that were once there to handle this have moved.  Until I find said new home, the global components will be managed by me – and I will rope in whoever is needed to resolve any issue on that level.

Although you’re not aware that this project has been in the transition stage for quite some time, in order for support to be able to support, I needed to have a Goal that involved taking a leap of faith.  This meant moving the bulk of the support across but Compromising on ownership – at the moment a contentious issue.

In the Distant Past, this has involved Creativity which has led to and met more Recently with Success (Recent Past).

This Success will provide me with the space for Aloneness.

The Feelings yesterday was that by tuning into the universe, I appreciated my Existence and uniqueness.  Today, apparently Other’s Views are picking up on the Feeling.  While for me the feeling of Existence has shifted to include Possibilities for Completion.

Hopes & Fears stem from Trust.  In this circumstance, it’s in trusting the romantic end.  The Trust card echoes the Goal card of The Fool, in that both require a leap of faith.  The Fear is in taking that leap and not having anything safe below you.

Finally, the Outcome card has the Fighting card.  Given the mental state and the lack of sleep, there is a lot of inner fighting to not be rude or unthinkingly disrespectful.  Don’t worry, at present, its minimal impact 🙂.

Context

Welcome to Day 76!

I love St Patrick’s day!  In fact, Irish people have a great sense of humour.  Yes, I’m generalising based on the people I’ve met who are from Ireland. Perhaps it’s just the accent that makes me smile.  There’s something about the lilt.

When it comes to matters Irish, I become an ultracrepidarian. Thank you, Susie Dent, for another wonderful word of the day.  The meaning of ultracrepidarian, Ms Dent describes it as being a 19th century word that “describes someone who loves holding forth on matters they know absolutely nothing about”.  It was fun to read the Twitter feed beneath the post as well.  Whenever, a word is posted, there’s a bunch of responses pointing out the extreme examples of those fitting the description of the word of the day.

One of the things I discover midway through an ultracrepidarian moment is how much I don’t actually know on the subject.  In the past, this is where information got creative.  Why? What was I afraid of?   Not knowing something?  A quote from Coco Chanel, stumbled across on the daily flip calendar, pops into my head, “teach your tongue to say I don’t know”.

It puts me in mind of those times when accusing or complaining about someone else’s actions and realising I’m doing exactly the same thing.  For example, during an argument with my sister, when we were in our teens, we often accused each other of being “selfish”.  (Pst. Not just teens, just sounds better if I put some distance between me and some of my not-so-proud moments).  When we were accusing each other of being selfish we were actually each being selfish.  We each wanted our own way.

If we didn’t mind, why were we having the discussion and trying to score points with the accusation?   Even knowing this is what we were doing, we failed to learn from using the word as a point scorer or barb in arguments.  Sometimes, it even worked 🙀.

This interaction and irony had me take a closer look at words I used challenging situations.  It had me watching for moments when I was accusing others of something to see if I was being guilty of it myself.   It became easier to spot, in moments when irritated by someone or something.  On reflection, I began to see what innumerable wise sources have said, the world is us reflected to ourselves.   It’s the whole, “physician heal thyself” or “charity begins at home” thing.  This self-assessment stuff is obviously a work in progress, but a LOT of tests keep confirming those sources.

What do you do when you discover you don’t like the aspect of yourself that irritates you?  You can try to deny it, ignore it, reinvent it, control it, suppress it, accept it but best of all you can “compassion it”.  Showing kindness to that aspect of yourself allows you to better accept it in others as well as yourself.

For me exercising compassion on an irritation worked.  This happened to me when I was sitting in a meeting where everyone was vying for their right to be heard.  In this environment, what I wanted to say wasn’t going to get a look in.  Irritated, I sat back to think on an approach to get my point across.  At this moment mindfulness kicked in.  Suddenly I realised me, and the participants were all doing the same thing.  We were like kids wearing grown up clothes, which were too big for us, mimicking what adults do in a meeting.

We were still fundamentally stamping our feet trying to “out tantrum” each other. At that moment, I got an image of everyone in the room being four years trying to each manage their insecurities but not very successfully – if you were looking.  Following that moment came a wave of compassion for everyone in the room.  How could you be irritated by four-year-olds trying to be brave? Figuratively speaking, of course.

That’s not to say that I saw them as four-years old – I did but didn’t.  Probably to use some New Age terminology or perhaps it’s from the psyche fields, I saw the inner children motivating the adult.  The irritation I had felt disappeared and became a wave of compassion and love for everyone in the room.   What I had to say didn’t matter, my idea would get out there, even if I didn’t get the credit.

There was a quote which embedded itself into my psyche that went something like, “you can accomplish a great many things, if you don’t mind who gets the credit”.  It’s not that it doesn’t occasionally irritate me when something of mine is adopted by someone else.  At these moments, there’s another quote by Goethe: “All truly wise thoughts have been thought already thousands of times; …”.   Who knows where the idea came from to get to me in the first place? There’ll be others.

This post took a weird turn, it started with me wanting to write something that in the end probably would have shown me to be truly ultracrepidarian.  Maybe it did just that. The post ended showing how for some areas I’ve learnt compassion for my own foibles.

Let’s see what the cards say!

Today's Cards

Day 076. Tabled list: position number, description, and daily card.1 is Now, card is The Fool. 2 is Influence, card is Aloneness. 3 is Goal, card is Thunderbolt. 4 is Distant Past, card is New Vision. 5 is Recent Past, card is Innocence. 6 is Future Energy, card is Understanding. 7 is Feelings, card is Existence. 8 is Others’ views, card is Laziness. 9 is Hopes & Fears, card is Sharing. 10 is Outcome, card is The Burden. Shuffle Method used was Washing Machine.

The Cards - Analysis

Sharing is the only card that carried over from yesterday.  Yesterday it sat in the Distant Past and today it sits in the Hopes & Fears.  Although, I wouldn’t draw a correlation between the two, but Sharing in the Distant Past could very well prompt a longing to recall the Sharing moment and perhaps fearful it’s not reproducible.

The Now has The Fool with the Influence of Aloneness and a Goal of Thunderbolt.

The Fool in the Now is the embarking of the journey to let go of my previous role and focus on the new one.   Aloneness in the Influence position means that no-one can do the letting go for me.

Thunderbolt is that handing over to respective areas.  It’s a big shift for me and for those getting the projects.  It means that for a time, my popularity may drop.

This stems from when my organisation in the Distant Past had a New Vision and how it wanted to go about delivering what it delivers.  Working in the area that needed to change, I needed to change.

The Distant Past of the New Vision gave way to Innocence in the Recent Past.  Innocence I was a person with experience but innocent to what the new role entailed.  Up until recently, that knowledge was new, now it’s time to begin to embrace it.  This is because I’m beginning to as the Future Energy card demonstrates, get an Understanding of what is required of me.

The Feelings or Immediate Future reflected in The Fool is that it is all part of ExistenceExistence is about just being yourself/ myself and realising that it’s my uniqueness that’s needed.

Others’ Views of has the card of Laziness.  A consequence of doing two roles and wanting to take it back down to a single role for which I’m employed, is that it might appear that I’m trying to shirk some of my responsibilities and that I am being lazy.  Particularly, a project where over the years I’ve established a good working relationship.  Persons in the area have changed and it just seems difficult to “start again”.

Hopes & Fears is Sharing. Following on from the “starting again” in the business relationship there was a time when Sharing of information and respect was high and carried with it a warmth. My Hope is to build the relationship to a new style of friendliness by Sharing.  The Fear is because there are different people involved it will not even happen.

The Outcome is The BurdenThe Burden card suggests I will be working on the two roles for a little while yet.  Long enough for it to continue to be a burden.

Context

Welcome to Day 75!

You know it started like one of those days where you were going to spend a lot of time expending energy and not get a lot of reward.  That’s how my day started, slow. Work felt like it was slipping further and further behind and accomplishing anything worthwhile seemed futile. Everyone needed to make things happen were busy.

The day had stalled, it was a dead end.  A change of tact was needed.  Obviously, fighting the never-ending sea of emails wasn’t working, so surrendering to the sea seemed like a good course of action. That meant checking for “urgent” ones.  Once actioned as far as possible, tackle them in age order. Just one at a time.

First, finish what has been ready for review and send it out.  It was stuff that was completed and awaiting final review, this was stuff already in the pipeline.  If it was incorrect, feedback was assured.  Done!

Second, contact Sam about the burning issue he had and needed to speak to me about urgently.  Not available?!  Tag Sam for status change and grab him then. Move on.

Do something that can be dropped at a moment’s notice in case Sam calls with the burning issue and requires everything to be dropped.  Aha! Safety training!  Just what I needed.  It’s been sitting at the bottom of the list waiting to ambush time at the busiest and most inconvenient moment.  Let’s do that. It’s also guaranteed to get interrupted (oh please!).

Have you ever noticed that these dry topic training emails seem so innocuous with lots of time to complete them, which you keep ignoring and then, “bam!” the deadline is here?  While there’s no real reason to be surprised, it still feels like, “surprise! Remember me?”  … Well, not this time, Kemosabe!

The other advantage of doing mandatory training is that usually it has a sure-fire way of ensuring you get interrupted half-way through the training.  Wonder if that’s because I’m usually doing it half hour before the deadline.  Anyway, let’s get started on the training.  Done.  Completed already?  Where was my interruption?  That was easy.  Okay.  Done.

Alright! Time to start on that complex chain of emails with multiple stakeholders, it’s been trying to get resolved for days because it needed thinking and working through.  If mandatory training didn’t attract an interruption, doing something that requires thinking time surely will.  To resolve this chain, it involves contacting colleagues outside of the usual suspects.

“Oh, hi Charlie! Long-time no speak… [insert medium length catch up and work chat here]”.  In addition to finding out how Charlie and family were going, the conversation was useful as it resolved some other emails awaiting action.  What I’m done, already?  Removed 20 emails with a single phone call?! Wow!  Hmmmm…. Still no burning issue from Sam; wonder whether he solved it … 🤔.

So, what began as a slow unproductive day, turned into an unusually satisfying one. Tackling the noise emails instead of the noisy emails seemed to work. By the end of the day, Sam’s burning issue didn’t flare up today, it might be tomorrow’s problem.  Today’s done.

Sometimes, when everything is going around in circles, you just need to take a tangent and focus on something you can control.  Not something frivolous – it’s the year of the cow/ ox after all – but just something minor and manageable.  There’s always a burning issue from the Sams of the world.  Just allowing for it in my headspace today seemed to encourage prioritising activities and time management. It’s not possible every day, but there are days when you reach a dead end but still want to be productive.

My friend, Melatrix used to always have a “guilt” pile.  It was a pile of documentation that needed filing one day.  One day, I had time and asked if she wanted a hand. Mel’s response was, “oh, I just like to have them there to show management I’m busy and remind me that I always have something I’d rather be working on.  It’s my guilt pile because I know I need to get rid of them but somehow never find time”.

Recalling this conversation, I began to wonder whether the emails at the bottom of my list are my version of a “guilt pile”?   Do you have a guilt pile?

Let’s see what the cards said!

The Cards - Analysis

The cards for today are a brand-new batch.  No overlap at all.  This means it’s a fresh take on a new topic – I think.

In the Now position is the card of Totality.  The card is about surrendering and giving in knowing that there is support waiting to receive.  It’s about working on things.  I’m going to relay this to the phone call with Charlie.  Friends and work colleagues, possibly more friendly work colleagues.

The Influence position has the card of Traveling.  Not sure what this card is and up until now the card has represented physical travel.  Today there was none and there was no planning for one.  Let’s continue to read perhaps its meaning will become clear as we progress.

Goal of Abundance is that wish to have the Midas touch when it comes to happiness and prosperity.  Totality and Abundance were born of a Distant Past when the projects had a wealth of information and were required to share its bounty.

This Sharing led to the Recent Past of Adventure. Adventure is about journeying into, applying it to today, the new approach to tackling my workload.

The Adventure and total commitment allowed me to build upon my Receptivity which looks like it will come in handy in the Future Energy position.

Friendliness is in the Feelings or Immediate Future position.  This is my relationship with Charlie.  She’s wonderful to talk with and while we used to go fire twirling together, once the fire twirling Moonfest disbanded we both got busy in our respective lives, but the mutual Friendliness still beautifully persists.

Others’ Views position has the card of Beyond Illusion. Beyond Illusion is the cocoon opening.  From a work perspective, while preparing documentation for release on two projects, one project finalising and another beginning it would have appeared not much was happening.  Today, that documentation was released to relevant stakeholders, becoming the butterfly of helpful information.

Being viewed from this morning’s perspective, the Schizophrenia card in the Hopes & Fears position would have represented the conflict of trying to persist with Sam’s burning issue or taking the tact I ended up taking.  The Hope would have been that Sam’s issue either made itself known so it could get resolved or alternately disappear.  With issues like this, it’s wise to Fear that perhaps there was something I could do to avoid the burning issue in the first place.

By embracing the Future Energy of Receptivity, a range of Possibilities become available as an Outcome.

Context

Welcome to Day 74!

Had a satisfying day.  Out of the blue, a phone call advised that the lounge we were getting recovered was ready for delivery.  Delivered.  Looks fantastic!  New lounge popular with both cats and a quick scratch by one of them confirmed that the fabric is unaffected by cat claws (initially, at least).

Obviously, we would prefer it if the cats kept their claws for the scratching beds and mats provided for them.  For a while discouraging clawing worked then we became less diligent in putting the tape up on the lounge because we kept getting stuck to it.  Rather than trying to take the mountain to Mohammed we moved Mohammed to the mountain.  Basically, find furniture that wasn’t going to look frayed within five minutes of buying it and a cat discovering it.

We found a velvety IKEA “throne” chair for the lounge, that I just had to have, and it didn’t fray at the sight of a cat.  So, we reupholstered the existing cheap but comfy lounge with a similar velvety fabric.  Today’s delivery confirmed that the new velvety fabric holds its own when it comes to cat claws.

Usually, the cats stay away from new furniture for a day, seems that they changed their habits.  Five minutes!  Yes, we will still discourage clawing, but we have stubborn cats.  By the way, the stubborn streak comes from my husband’s side of the family 😉. What?  Surely you don’t always want to hear my husband being wonderful – you’d think I was making him up!

Health update.  Still sore. Still exercising. Still living and laughing!

During the course of the workday I contacted Jenny about this and that work thing but we sometimes drift off into a five minute coffee chat.  It was a lovely chat; she has two young under school aged children and has recently discovered that her place needs some unplanned remodelling due to the previous owner’s “handiwork” not being so handy anymore and causing issues where the family need to move out while repairs are carried out.

Anyway, Jenny broke her ankle about two years ago and had we spoken earlier about her physio appointments, I wouldn’t have had the level of anxiety about seeing one either.  But that would’ve robbed me of something to write about – right!  Jenny reaffirmed that physios were there to help get you better and not to torture you.  Really good to know.  She did then go into a story where after another incident that moving the muscles at that point was incredibly excruciating.  Not the physio just the exercises the physio gave her.

Jenny stressed, like others, that doing the exercises are the key to good recovery and full range of movement.  Talking about an elderly couple where both had various needs for surgery and an exercise regime.  One with replacing both hips and everyday they religiously pushed themselves to go for walks.  They made full and pain free recoveries.

Instead of writing this all now, let me wander off to do just that.  Oh, quickly.  Woman in New Amsterdam (Netflix) with similar leg injury.  Dr Bloom has ligament damage, no wonder the physio was pushing her through her pain.

Before I do that, let’s see what the cards have to say!

Today's Cards

Day 074. Tabled list: position number, description, and daily card. 1 is Now, card is Guidance. 2 is Influence, card is Integration. 3 is Goal, card is The Source. 4 is Distant Past, card is Intensity. 5 is Recent Past, card is Rebirth. 6 is Future Energy, card is Existence. 7 is Feelings, card is Success. 8 is Others’ views, card is Sorrow. 9 is Hopes & Fears, card is Mind. 10 is Outcome, card is Moment to Moment. Shuffle Method used was Washing Machine.

The Cards - Analysis

There’s only the one card that is in today’s reading that was in yesterday’s and that’s the card of Guidance.  Yesterday, it was in the Feelings or Immediate Future card.  The Now could be the Immediate Future spoken about yesterday.  Yesterday I mentioned Guidance was about taking the physio’s guidance and incorporating that into my immediate future until my ankle has recovered.

The Influence position and its card of Integration.  The words above of embedding it into my routine lends support to the Guidance card not starting a new cycle but continuing the last run of the physio’s impact.

The Goal of The Source is about getting back to basics and new ideas at the heart of the issue.

Distant Past has the card of Intensity which is embodies another fire element card.  Fire representing creativity power of the mind and showing the inspiration The Source.  The Intensity card could relate to the enthusiasm I have about displaying my spreadsheets to the world.  They’re not that fantastic, but for me they’re cool.  Just need to make a couple of areas a little more user friendly 🙂.

The Intensity gives rise to the Recent Past card of Rebirth.  As mentioned in the paragraph above, there’s a new enthusiasm for progressing the spreadsheet to public viewing.  Not that it was ever not going to happen, just need to do it cheaply.

Future Energy is about Existence.  This is just being who I am where I am.  Sneakily looking ahead the Moment to Moment card is in the Outcome position and it looks as though Existence is going to happen from Moment to Moment – taking just one step at a time.

Success in the Immediate Future or Feelings position? I’ll take it!  There were a couple of things where I thought the day was successful.  Kept to exercising the ankle.  Finally sent off documentation to finalise a project that just seems to love me more than it should have – meaning that I hadn’t taught the project to fend for itself in the big wide world.  There was also the Emergency response processes we needed to complete – done!  Now it was a Successful day!

Others’ Views has the card of Sorrow.  Jenny probably did see me as sorrowful because of the way my personal pain barriers were being pushed before seeing the physio. Come to think of it, it was probably also the naivety around physio capability.

Mind in the Hopes & Fears position.  Simple. My Fear is that I don’t know where to draw the line with my exercises and this lack of clarity pushes me to do something silly.  My Hope is that like learning new things the mind in a state of confusion can still make clear choices.

The Outcome is Moment to Moment, since we spoke about this up earlier.  Moment to Moment is about taking one step at a time while being fully aware.

Context

Welcome to Day 73!

My friend Connie visited today, and we realised that we had known each other for 20+ years.  We met when one of my contracting jobs was working with her.  Connie’s sense of humour, intelligence and matter-of-factness won me over instantly.  Prior to Connie, people who had a matter-of-factness usually confused me.  It was kind of Susie Dent to tweet just the word I was looking for to describe why it confused me.  Here’s the quote:

Word of the day is 'huff snuff' (16th century): one who shares their opinion far and wide but is quick to take offence if anyone disagrees.

Yes! Yes!  It’s a Twitter icon with a link to Twitter. There’s learning happening all the time.  Who knows? Soon there might even be an Instagram icon.  Remember, “patience is its own reward” 🧘🏻.

Anyway, back to Connie. Connie is not a huff snuff, you could “matter-of-fact” right back at her and she would be totally fine with it.  This ability to roll with and the counter ‘punches’ I’ve going to put down to the large family she comes from.  Another friend of mine also has a large family and she too has a good sense of humour and tolerance.

Not all large families fit this generalisation 🙂, because I haven’t been involved with that many large families myself. But from my limited exposure, I’m imaging that in large families it’s the natural nature of siblings to let loose on one another – verbally of course.  This happened between my sister and I – how could it not happen in larger families.  So, over the years that might foster a sense of humour and tolerance gained from the intense melting pot of personalities and inescapable circumstances (for a while at least).

Depending upon the personalities and where the parents are at emotionally, spiritually and physically when it comes to disciplining the conflicts will depend on the outcome.  As I write it dawns on me there are a multitude of factors for it not being the case, so I’ve been over generalising.

Nonetheless, we had a wonderful day.  Also found out that Connie is related to a physiotherapist, which is why she thought I’d be exhausted after the session.  Fortunately for me, I’d already been pushing myself too hard and the physio went easy on me 🙏.

Once Connie left, there was just a little bit of work on researching how to make the stats workbook available for viewing. In the meantime, the brains of the family (husband) worked out why one of my formulas wasn’t doing what it was supposed to be doing.  Looks like I may have found something, and my husband fixed the formula, win-win!  The only thing is that what I found was done in an earlier version of Excel and it needs to get checked against the current version in case Microsoft decided to “improve it away” 😏.

On the health front, it’s been quiet; just ice packs on the knee ensuring that the recommended exercises are being done.  That’s it.

Let’s see what the cards have to say!

The Cards - Analysis

There are three cards that have made a return: Transformation, Guidance and The Dream. Over the last three days Transformation has moved from the Now to Distant Past to Hopes & Fears. Over the last two days I’ve been treating Transformation as being the physio experience, I’m tempted to treat it in the same light – read below for its impact on the overall deck.

Guidance and The Dream are interesting.  Guidance has moved into the Feelings or Immediate Future position, but The Dream has remained in the NowGuidance representing the course of action provided by the physio means that by me adhering to the exercises provided, that Guidance is continuing.

The Dream in the Now position yesterday was about unrealistic expectations on the physio and everything being miraculously healed. For a while, it certainly felt like it had but then reality came crashing down.

Today’s The Dream in the Now would suggest that my perspective on the miracle of what physiotherapists can do has not changed.  I can say it’s true, more so than even before I visited the physio where the unknown created stress for me.  This time, the output and their skill is known.

The Influence card is PlayfulnessPlayfulness in the Osho book speaks to letting go of the burden, not taking life too seriously.  Certainly, when it comes to physios, I am unburdened and it probably is contributing to continuing The Dream perspective.

Ice-olation sits in the Goal position and usually represents pushing others away believing they are unable to relate.  It’s quite similar to The Outsider card.  Personally, this card has me at a loss today, unless it’s when Connie and my husband went out to pick up lunch.  This is where I sat at home due to me not wanting to hassle with the moon boot. It’s a form of Ice-olation, certainly not a conscious Goal

A Celebration in the Distant Past giving rise to today The Dream might very well be that successful treatment the physio provided. As mentioned, my ankle and knee felt wonderful and if I’d been permitted to dance, you couldn’t have stopped me.  This could also relate to in the past coming up with some successful formulas in Excel around extracting daily tarot data into something fun.

Moving from the Celebration to Breakthrough in the Recent Past. Because of the positive mood and mental state, it was only a matter of time before a Breakthrough happened, fortunately it happened with the data spreadsheet.  Have you ever noticed how breakthroughs tend to happen when you’re in an extreme state, regardless of the type of extreme – happiness, anger, sadness, frustration et cetera?

The Future Energy position has Inner Voice.  From the Recent Past of Breakthrough to the Now of The Dream into the Future of listening to Inner Voice.  Except in Osho world Inner Voice is about finding your inner truth.  Not a bad thing to move to from The Dream.

As mentioned above Guidance in the Feelings or Immediate Future position is about continuing to follow the advice provided by the physio.

Others’ Views has the card of Courage.  Many movies mention that Courage and bravery are done in the face of fear or taking a step you know to be risky, but it happens to work out. Perhaps my stupidity around overdoing the exercises might be seen as courageous🤔

Hopes & Fears has Transformation.  My Hope is that the physio can see me again next week (currently booked two weeks hence) and that once again, miracle work will occur.  The Fear is that she won’t be able to see me or she will, and the “wow” factor only came about because I hadn’t really had physio before.  Thus, transforming my experience into a different perspective.

The Outcome of ConsciousnessConsciousness suggests that a clearer overall perspective will form.  Not one clouded by the unrealistic romance of The Dream.  Aha!  Found out how Ice-olation fits in! It can mean, being solitary for a while to get the distance for an objective perspective.

Consciousness and Inner Voice are quite complementary as far as Future Energy and Outcomes go.

Context

Welcome to Day 72!

Yesterday, there were so many questions going through my mind it was difficult to keep the excitement and anxiety in check.  The visit to the physiotherapist proved to be an enlightening experience.  She, the physio, advised that healing was progressing as expected.  The swelling in both ankles isn’t unusual but not everybody gets it. The Physio concurred with the doctor on the swelling’s cause (humidity) and noted healing was still happening on the basis of the heat generated by the ankle.

When it came to the exercises following the Royal Berkshire Physio Recovery Plan for a Broken Ankle, was good.  Because my knee was being affected by the moon boot, she added a couple of additional exercises to help strengthen the knee.  Thank you, Royal Berkshire!

When it came to pain levels, I was to stick with levels under five out of ten (three and four out of ten), where level one was poking a bruise. Definitely recommending staying away from five and above there’s the risk of damaging tendons or ligaments.  Tendons and ligaments take longer to heal because blood flow is less.  Okay, okay.  Listening.

The session involved some targeted effleurage around the ankle and the knee received with acupuncture. Walking out of the session was amazing.  Pain free!  Are physiotherapists angels?  Leaving the session didn’t require me to use the knee brace because of the short trip to the car.

Being lunchtime, husband suggested lunch out.  The food court in the shopping centre (mall) nearby seemed like a good idea.  While in broken ankle recovery, husband had taken to dropping me off at the entrance to reduce the amount of limping required.  This particular carpark has a complex road network that my husband disliked.  So, instead of dropping me off at the entrance, his auto-pilot – an inconvenience avoidance technique – kicked in and he parked a long way from the entrance.  In good ankle days this is not a problem, because we both enjoy the extra steps.

False guilt is six-tenths of regret.  The other tenths are made up of assuming inconvenience to another, and ignoring instincts (don’t quote me, it just seems that way). Given the blissful state of play with my knee and ankle following physio, and not wanting to make my husband drive the mazy network he disliked, I went for the walk. Plus, my husband promised to collect me from the door when we left.

Part way to the entrance, my instincts and healing knowledge were telling me the walk was a bad idea.  By the time we got to the food court, the knee had gotten to half its pain free state.  You see, if you’re going to have a massage or acupuncture, it’s best not to go racing around immediately afterward.  Usually, a couple of hours rest helps the therapy do its best work –a little longer is better.  It gives the body, mind and spirit time to adapt to the new healed state.

To make the knee worse, after lunch having walked halfway back to the car, we remembered the arrangement was for me to wait and he to collect me. It was no longer worth the inconvenience, so we finished the walk together. It is so unlike my husband to not follow through – he really mustn’t like the carpark!

By the end of the day, my knee felt exactly like it had before the physio visit. It may have been half that bad the knee brace had gone on before leaving the physio’s office.  But there was the hope to let the healing “set” before going to old habits.  Nonetheless, there was a sense of sadness at the loss of the blissful state, all because of my own desire to get things back to normal, as well as get some exercise in which had been lacking.  Now it’s time to pay the cost 😞.

It’s also not a good idea to have acupuncture sessions to the same part of the body too close together. Maybe I’ll make an appointment for next weekend and apply the learning from this weekend to that one.

The Cards - Analysis

Firstly, let’s start by looking at the repeat cards and their respective positions.  There’s the Postponement card showing up in the Others‘ Views position two days running.  Others’ Views is difficult for me to confirm because it’s not possible to be other people and see how they see you.

The only person for which this continuation might apply is that of my husband.  There are several things this could relate to, but I’m going to go with the tangents I go on when trying to sit down and write the posts at a time that isn’t 9:30 pm 🤔. But it’s so quiet then.

The Transformation, which yesterday I assumed was being on the precipice of going to physio follows through on this assumption by showing up in the Distant Past position. By the time I unveil the cards, this post and the visit will have happened, confirming it was related to the visit.

Transformation has triggered The Dream card sitting in the Now position.  The Dream represents romantic and possibly unrealistic notions of the “happy ever after”.  In this instance, I can confirm that the “happy ever after” feelings were from being pain free, leading me to believe that this is how it should be.  Possibly, physios aren’t always angels either 😇.

The Dream is Influenced by Guidance which is certainly what was provided by the physio to encourage my now rose-coloured view for ankle recovery.

Yesterday, there was some freaking out happening on my part around the visit to the physio.  The Goal being inhabited by the Stress card displays my feelings pre visit.

Transformation in the Distant Past, or the physio visit, developed the Recent Past card and emotions of Understanding.  No longer worried about what a physio may or may not do, the visit provided me with a feel for their skillset and the way in they can assist recovery.  The visit gave an Understanding that there was some mistrust in my stress.

It’s no surprise that the Sorrow card appears in the Future Energy position.  Since the sadness felt for the loss of the blissful moments I had.  The silver lining of the Sorrow card ties in nicely with the Feelings or Immediate Future position which is that of The Lovers, indicating that with mutual respect and teamwork the same state can be reached again.

Postponement in the Others’ Views position, as mentioned above is about delaying post writing until 9:30-10:00 pm at night rather than taking a few moments earlier to get something down.

Hopes & Fears has the Abundance card.  The Abundance card is akin to someone having the Midas touch. However, in the Osho book instead of everything he touched turning to gold it would be “catching” compassion, inner wisdom and self-knowledge.  Unlike Midas’ misfortune with gold, spreading compassion doesn’t have a downside. So, from this the Hope is clear; be in a mental and spiritual state well enough to help everyone.  The Fear is that I’m incapable of such an ask.

From bliss to sorrow the Outcome of Compromise is the physio revisit next weekend.  Not ideal but it will provide opportunity to reflect and continue healing.
